Here’s To 2016

2016 is about to come to a close…..can you believe it? Mixtape has had a simply amazing year and it’s all because of you, our friends and fans! We have met so many new friends over the course of 2016, and we’ve enjoyed every moment of it. 2016 saw the closing of the venue that we kind of considered our band’s home base, The Bunganut Pig. We played our first show there, and ended up playing there about once a month.

After “The Pig” closed their doors, another Murfreesboro venue re-opened their doors to live music. Nobody’s Grille had not been hosting live music events for some time, but began bringing in bands again. Between regular shows at The Alley On Main during the warmer months of 2016  and Nobody’s Grille, we began filling the calendar with some of our first corporate and private events.

2016 also saw the departure of one of Mixtape’s founding members. Tim Carroll, who tackled all of the tunes for us that exist up in the high vocal rafters, moved away. Tim is still a dear friend and is always welcome to hang with us whenever he’s close enough to do so. The need for a super high rock vocalist led us to a long time friend of one of our band members. Keith Landry stepped in and has brought his own energy and personality to our stage shows. He’s such a great fit! Keith has toured with several national bands and artists such as Toto and LeRoux, and can be heard in motion pictures like Rocky 4 and The Great Outdoors.

2017 is shaping up to be a totally awesome year already! We’re bringing the greatest music of all time to venues we’ve never played before and we’re super excited to continue building this band and our brand. If you, or someone you know, are hosting events and need them to be way more than the average event, Mixtape is absolutely the answer!

We have one show left in 2016. New Year’s Eve will be off the chain at Nobody’s in Murfreesboro! You will not find a better party than ours, so make your reservations now and dance the YEAR away with YOUR 80s Mixtape!

Nashville 80s music cover band from Nashville Tennessee.

One Year Anniversary!

Dudes!!! Has it been a year already? It’s hard to believe that last May, we played our first show for all of you amazing 80s music fans! That first show marked months of meetings, rehearsals, and building an 80s cover band from the ground up that has been so much fun along the way, and is proving to be an even bigger thing than we imagined.

There’s so much fun in taking songs we’ve loved our whole lives and putting them under a microscope as we learn each part, note for note. We found that some of these amazing songs contained things we’ve never heard before. We found that some of them did NOT contain things we would have sworn were there. It’s funny how, as musicians, we hear extra harmonies and instrumental parts in our minds and project those parts into a song. Then, over the years we just program our minds to hear those parts every single time.

We want to thank everyone one who has been to our shows this past year! We had hoped we would have a hand full of people come see us on our first night in Murfreesboro, TN at The Bunganut Pig, and you guys packed the building. You have been continuing to do so ever since then and we could not be more grateful! You have shared us to your friends and family on social media. You have referred us to your friends who were looking for an epic 80s band for their event. You have supported us in every single way and we LOVE you for it! Thank you!

Our first year saw strides that even stunned us, and we hope the upcoming year does that and more! We love the music of the 1980s with all of our hearts and absolutely love playing those songs time and again. We have been asked to play Corporate Events, Weddings, Festivals, Parties, Music Venues, and more all around the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area and beyond. Needless to say……we’ve loving every minute of it!

Cheers and here’s to many more radical, awesome, gnarly, tubular, heavy nights of 80s rock and roll!! \m/

Well, didn’t we have an awesome time on Labor Day weekend! Anytime we have two shows back to back, we call that a big “twoer.” Our Labor Day Weekend Twoer was nothing short of spectacular!

The weekend started on Friday night at the Bunganut Pig in Murfreesboro. We love playing there because it’s the first place we ever performed as a band. We always see so many friends who come out to see us every single time we play. We also love seeing the staff and management of “The Pig” because they always take amazing care of us. They have great bands there every weekend and it’s a wonderful place to go when you want to hear some great live music.

On Saturday afternoon, we were scheduled to perform at Nashville Shores for the third annual Nashville Kiwanis Incredible Duck Splash. It was a gorgeous day and we got there super early to get all set up. About 20 minutes before we were to play, the sky completely opened up and soaked all of the gear and PA equipment. There was no way to get everything dried out and play the show. It was a total wash…..too soon? It’s really too bad because the stage was right on the beach and we were super pumped to give them an awesome 80s beach party! We even had some special tunes ready just for the occasion. Since we didn’t get to play our beach bash, I’ll share one of our tunes right here from our Friday night show at the Pig.

We hope to see you at one of our upcoming shows. September 23rd, we’ll be right back at The Bunganut Pig in Murfreesboro. October 30th, we’ll be at The Bunganut Pig in Franklin, TN. This is going to be a very special night indeed. We will be having an “Awesome 80s Costume Party!” Come dressed as your favorite 80s character or musician. Prizes will be awarded for the very best costumes. Don’t miss it!

We Wanna Hear From You!
